BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – A yearly event in downtown Bangor returns this 4th of July weekend, focusing on giving exposure to local artists.
The 5th annual 2025 Summer Sidewalk art festival took place from 9am to 4pm, with vendors lined up across Central, Harlow and Franklin Street.
New this year, the festival featured and appearance from both the Bangor Chinese School and Chen Chinese Academy.
Executive Director Betsy Lundy says that the Summer Sidewalk Art Festival helps to bring together artists of all mediums.
“We got about 140 vendors here, artists of all different genres, every level from inexpensive crafted stickers, all the way up to fine art oil paintings,” says Lundy, “Art can be a solitary one-on-one endeavor, and you need opportunities like this to be able to interact with them and they get feedback, and the community gets exposure, and it’s kind of a win-win all around to continue to help move the arts forward.”
Downtown Bangor also helps to give artists exposure through a monthly event known as First Friday’s, as well as a second Summer Sidewalk art festival in the fall.
