Serpent Society villains cut from Captain America 4 revealed in new art
A new Captain America 4 concept art that was posted on social media recently showcased villains who were cut from the final movie. The villains are said to be the members of the Serpent Society who were supposed to come face-to-face with Anthony Mackie’s Captain America.
A user named @blackbearuwandi shared the image on his Instagram account and wrote, “Up next… Captain America Brave New World. In early development, we envisioned what it would look like to see Cap fighting the Serpent Society. So many cool ideas for them that didn’t make it into the final film. Thanx to @ianjoynerart for bringing me on.”
The concept art shows Mackie’s character, Sam Wilson, and Danny Ramirez’s Joaquin Torres being surrounded by snake-themed villains. Fans can also spot Seth Rollins’ character, who was removed from the final cut.
The Serpent Society did not appear in Captain America: Brave New World. However, Giancarlo Esposito played the role of Seth Voelker, AKA Sidewinder, the leader of the society in comics.
Previously, Julius Onah spoke about why Seth Rollins’ Sepent Society character didn’t make it to the final cut. He told Collider, “In terms of the Seth Rollins of it all, he was a character that was just going to feature in the opening of the movie. Seth is amazing. Incredible. I would work with him again in a heartbeat, but as we were iterating on the movie, it was very clear that some of the tonal things that we were playing with with the original iteration of Serpent Society had to fit even more closely in the mold with the rest of the movie.” Onah further noted that they wanted to refine Esposito’s character.
