OCEAN CITY, Md. – Kids ages 6 to 17 are invited to participate in the Art League of Ocean City’s Kids Paint OC.
Throughout July, children will be offered opportunities to take part in plein air painting events. The outdoor artistry dates back to the French Impressionist era, and young artists in Ocean City will paint outside to capture what inspires them.
“We hope any young person interested in the arts will take up the brush and make a plein air painting … Then come to the Arts Center on August 17 to see their work displayed and experience what it’s like to have their art exhibited,” stated Rina Thaler, the Art League’s Executive Director, in a news release.
There is no fee to enter. Participants will receive a free Kids Paint OC t-shirt. Artists must paint from July 1st to July 31st, and outdoors. The finished works must be turned into the Ocean City Center for the Arts by August 7th.
Paintings must be original works of art, made with acrylics, oil paints, pastels, watercolors, pencil, ink and wash, or other traditional media. The maximum entry size is 8×10 inches, limited to one piece per artist. Digitally-created artwork is not eligible. Free painting kits are available at the Arts Center while supplies last.
The works will be displayed on August 17th from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Arts Center. The winners will be selected by a panel of judges. More than $500 in cash prizes will be awarded.
